HISTORY

In the early 1980s, all of Florida was experiencing a population boom and southwest Florida was no exception. The Florida Conference of the United Church of Christ and the national church desired to give these new residents options for their faith development and boldly began a program of new church development in all corners of our state.

BELIEFS

We believe in the triune God: Creator, resurrected Christ, the sole Head of the church, and the Holy Spirit, who guides and brings about the creative and redemptive work of God in the world. We believe that each person is unique and valuable. It is the will of God that every person belong to a family of faith where they have a strong sense of being valued and loved.

MISSIONS

As a church, we have more than one mission. Our first mission, of course, is to be "the church": a community of believers whose faith teaches that another world--a world of justice and peace--is possible. Making that world a reality in our individual lives and in the life of the church is our primary mission. To that end, we participate in several ministry and mission projects.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Economic Justice - Poverty is just one of the many evils that results from economic injustice. So, too, are inadequate wages and benefits. Environmental Justice - Whether we admit it or not, the climate is definitely changing. What, if anything, can we do about it? Immigration Justice - Concern for the the stranger--the alien--is part of our Judeo-Christian social justice heritage. Racial Justice - Racism has been called "America's original sin." What can be done to combat it?
