The town of Punta Gorda is blessed to have a historic African American neighborhood and a fine museum of African American history, The Blanchard House.
Our church supports the work of the Blanchard House and Cooper Street Community Center through financial contributions and participation in their activities. We also support the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) that seeks economic and racial justice for Hispanic migrant workers in SW Florida. We monitor legislation and court issues that bear on racial justice and communicate with governmental bodies (City council, state and federal representatives on behalf of minority rights in voting, judicial process, healthcare and education.
